Last Wednesday(Sept. 5th) I met Angela & Ben in downtown Portland for their engagement session. Both of them live downtown so we thought it would be a great place for some photos. We started in Oldtown and then headed towards the Ace Hotel where there is a very cool oldschool photobooth. Angela & Ben had taken some photos there after they were engaged so it seemed fitting we should use it in the engagement shoot. We found some great golden light all over downtown and worked our way towards the big ‘Portland’ sign at the Schnitzer. I wanted to get the shot since Angela & Ben are moving to Seattle soon…they’ll be Portlanders no longer. Here are some of my favorite shots from the shoot.

On Sunday, August 17th I had a great day shooting the wedding of Krista & Chris at the Beckenridge Vineyard in Dallas, Oregon.  The weather was perfect, not too hot.  Krista & Chris planned a very fun, creative and unique wedding complete with a bubble machine, pink umbrellas and some very very cute kids.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the day.

A Mt. Hood Wedding

On August 2nd, I assisted the very talented Portland Photographer Rob McNary on the wedding of Laura & Doug which was held at Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood. It was a beautiful day, although a bit chilly up on the mountain. The lodge served as a perfect backdrop to a very family oriented wedding. Here are a few of my favorite shots that I took during the day.  There were some really cute kids at the wedding.

Last Tuesday I had a chance to attend the Onelight Workshop…a very well known photography education workshop that focuses on using minimalist lighting to achieve dramatic portraits. It is taught by Zack Arias…a rock star in the photography world (and he photographs rock stars). It was a great class that went from 9am until 1:30am the next day. We were in the SE Industrial district and had two models to work with and a large variety of lighting equipment. Here are some of my favorite shots from the workshop.

On Monday August 11th, I met Brenda & Daryl for their engagement session. They are Vancouverites so we decided to start at Lacamas Lake, a very scenic spot in Camas. We then took a quick jaunt over the river to McMenamin’s Edgefield for some very cool shots around the ‘McCompound’. Brenda & Daryl were great to work with and super nice! I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding at Skamania Lodge in September…here are some photos.

On Saturday July 26th I photographed the incredibly awesome wedding of Kathleen & Bobby. We started with the ceremony at University of Portland Chapel and then moved on to the reception at the Columbia River Yacht Club. Could these two newlyweds be any more photogenic? You decide…here are some highlights from the wedding.

On July 19th I photographed the very beautiful wedding of Jennifer & Jeremy in Salem. The ceremony was held on Jeremy’s parents’ property which was gorgeous…full of flowers, ponds, and mini waterfalls. The perfect setting for a relaxed, intimate wedding. Here are some highlights from the wedding.

Asher – Part Deux

Yesterday I came home after photographing Jennifer & Jeremy’s wedding in Salem (photos soon) and my wife was babysitting Asher…the eight month old son of Eddie & Tara. I had photographed Asher shortly after he was born in November…you can see the photos here. After watching Asher for a few minutes I noticed he was in a very happy & giggly mood so I immediately grabbed my camera and started shooting away. I think he thought my camera was a toy…a toy that he loved…and for a few minutes it looked like he was auditioning for America’s Next Top Baby Model…he was throwing different poses left and right…I thought I would see ‘Blue Steel’. Here are some of my favorites.

On July 10th I met Alicia and Peder at Laurelhurst Park for their engagement session. We had a good time watching all of the ducks & ducklings and debating whether or not the turtles in the lake were real (Peder claimed they were animatronic). After taking some shots in the park, we headed down to the SE Industrial district between OMSI and the Morrison Bridge by the waterfront. We ended by taking a few photos at the Eastbank Esplanade. I had a blast working with Alicia and Peder and can’t wait to photograph their wedding at McMenamin’s Grand Lodge in October. Here are some highlights from the session.

On June 14th I had the privilege of photographing Abbie & Brad’s beautiful wedding on their property in North Plains. The weather was fantastic, the homemade BBQ was delicious, everyone had a wonderful time, and ‘Elvis’ even made an appearance(see below). Here are some highlights from Abbie & Brad’s wedding.

Abbie met Brad before the ceremony…but he had to keep his eyes closed!
